Ditch Your Double Chin

If you’re bothered by the fullness beneath your chin, you’re not alone. According to a 2015 survey conducted by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, 67% of people said they are bothered by a “double chin,” also called submental fullness associated with submental fat.

Fortunately, there’s a solution! We offer KYBELLA double chin treatment to men and women in and around The Woodlands, Spring, and Conroe, TX, who are looking to improve their neck profile and jawline contours. KYBELLA is the first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment to improve the appearance of moderate to severe fat beneath the chin* by physically destroying fat cells.

What Causes a Double Chin?

A broad range of both male and female adults have some degree of submental fullness. Some possible causes are:

  • Genetics
  • Weight gain
  • Aging

Sometimes, even with diet or exercise, the unwanted fullness beneath your chin may not go away, and it could make you appear older or heavier than you actually are. Fortunately, KYBELLA can help.

How Does KYBELLA Work?

The active ingredient in KYBELLA is deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected directly into the fat beneath your chin, KYBELLA destroys the fat cells accumulated in that area.

Fat cleared from the treatment area is processed through your body’s natural metabolism. Once destroyed, those cells are gone for good. That means as long as you’re able to maintain a stable weight, your stunning new jawline will last indefinitely.

Am I Candidate for KYBELLA?

KYBELLA may be right for you if:

  • You’re bothered by fat under the chin, also known as submental fullness
  • You don’t want surgery
  • You feel the condition makes you look older or heavier than you actually are
  • You eat well and exercise, but submental fullness does not go away

If most of these statements apply to you, KYBELLA may be your best solution. Some people may be better candidates for nonsurgical skin tightening with Ultherapy®. During your consultation, your helpful provider will recommend the best approach for you.

What Are KYBELLA Treatments Like?

Your KYBELLA treatment will take place during a quick visit to our office. The process typically takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Your experienced injector will deliver a series of injections into the fat under your chin at each treatment session. After treatment, you can apply ice or a cold pack to the treatment area for 10 to 15 minutes, as needed.

Does KYBELLA Hurt?

Before your treatment, your provider may apply ice, a topical anesthetic, or an injectable local anesthetic to keep you comfortable from start to finish. He or she may also suggest you take an over-the-counter pain reliever before your appointment.

How Many KYBELLA Sessions Will I Need?

Your provider will help you determine how many treatment sessions you need based on the amount and distribution of your submental fat and your personal treatment goals. To see your best results, you may need up to 6 treatments, spaced no less than 1 month apart.

What Is KYBELLA Recovery Like?

For most people, the first treatment session involves the most downtime. You’ll be free to resume your normal daily activities, but are likely to have swelling for a couple of weeks, so keep your social plans and work commitments in mind when scheduling your treatment.

The most common side effects include:
• Swelling
• Bruising

Who should not receive a KYBELLA treatment?

Tell your provider if you plan to have surgery on your face, neck, or chin; have had cosmetic treatments on your face, neck, or chin; have had or have medical conditions in or near the neck area; have had or have trouble swallowing; have bleeding problems; are pregnant or plan to become pregnant (it is not known if KYBELLA will harm your unborn baby); or are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed (it is not known if KYBELLA passes into your breast milk; talk to your healthcare provider about the best way to feed your baby if you receive KYBELLA).

Does KYBELLA really work?

In clinical studies, 79% of people treated with KYBELLA had improved satisfaction with the appearance of the area beneath their chin (compared with 34% of people treated with placebo) 12 weeks after the last treatment.

KYBELLA patients reported improvement in the visual and emotional impact of submental fat when asked how happy, bothered, self-conscious, embarrassed, old, and overweight they felt about the amount of their submental fat after receiving treatment.
